Applications for Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science are available at all elementary schools, the district office, and online (see link below). Students in grades Kindergarten through sixth are eligible to apply. Parents may submit an application through February 26, 2010. Applications will not be accepted after this deadline. Applications will be placed in a lottery pool for random selection for the magnet program. The lottery will be held on March 10, 2010 at 10 AM at the District Office. Interested parents are encouraged to attend a Magnet School Interest Meeting. Magnet School Interest meetings will be held at the following locations:
February 3 Fairfield Magnet School, 9 AM
February 10 Fairfield Elementary School, 9 AM
February 17 Geiger Elementary, 5:30 PM
February 22 Fairfield Magnet School, 9 AM
Kelly Miller Elementary School, 6 PM

The 2010 Census — a count of everyone living in the United States — is fast approaching. Census questionnaires will be mailed or delivered to every household in the United States in March 2010. Data from the Census determines the distribution of Congressional seats and impacts decisions regarding services for the elderly, where to build new roads and schools, where to locate job training centers, and how to distribute $300-400 billion in federal funds.
